Motivation Factor 5: The Peers

Motivation Factor 5: The Peers

Peers also play a very important role in college student motivation. When students feel they know their peers well, feel comfortable with each other, and become friends with each other, they will "look foward to" to coming back to class, and more willing to participate in class as well. This strong friendship among peers, based on some students, is even more powerful as a motivating factor during difficult times when life is "hard".

Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised how quickly we all got along in the class. Getting to know our peers really helps us look forward to class and doing well. I feel that this class will be a positive learning experience and I am looking forward to see what I can implement with my students to help them succeed.-- Erin, Jan 15, 2008 EDCI 6304

I really enjoy this class because everyone is comfortable with each other. I look forward to class and see what is next on the agenda.-- Valerie, October 31, 2007, EDCI 4322-61

I absolutely believe that this was one of the greatest classes I have been here at UTB. I consider this class not only my classmates, but I consider everyone has come together as a family.—Hilda, December 5, 2007, EDCI 4322-61

Well I am finally going to be finished with this class. I am looking forward to it but at the same time I know that I am probably never going to have a class like this one again. It was so interesting not to mention all the new people I met. I hate taking night classes, but this was pretty fun, anyways I don’t want to get all mushy but I wish everyone the best!—Lily, December 5, 2007, EDCI 4322-61

All the obstacles that I went through this semester in my personal life and all the sharing that we did in class, with everyone’s encouraging words, made me realize that we all have obstacles in life and we have to learn how to overcome them and appreciate what we have.—Maggie, December 5, 2007, EDCI 4322-61
