The transition from high school to college is really tough. We no longer have teachers telling and reminding us what we need to do, to go see the advisor, or complete important paperwork. College was definitely a big wake up call for me and I had to learn how to take responsibility for my own education fast.—Juanita Torres, Feb 5, 2008, EDCI 4322-60
Entering college was a real wakeup for me. I now had professors that are there because your paying for the services and that could care less if you pass or fail sometimes. Also, nobody is reminding you to see an advisor or to keep up to date on important deadlines for applications or homework: you have to do it on your own. To me that was shocking; I used to being "babied." Entering college greatly changed me as far as academics too. I strive to do my very best in my classes because I'm paying for them and I want to succeed as a Historian after graduation. I now make more of an effort to be a well-rounded student and individual in general. –Juanita Torres, Feb 5, 2008, EDCI 4322-60
Some professors tell you to enjoy but do well during your college years. But, in my case, it was to very difficult to accomplish this without missing classes, cramming, and procrastinating. I actually got my priorities straight a couple of years ago but I did lose valid time in the process. —Cavin, Feb 5, 2008, EDCI 4322-60
…that really affected me when I entered college. I had no study skills and had no idea where to start. I struggled in the beginning.—Ally, Feb 6, 2008, EDCI 4322-60
