I was very nervous and anxious on what to expect from this class. I took a look at the syllabus before and that really did not make me feel any better. Honestly I was feeling a bit overwhelmed without even coming to class yet. Yet as our instructor welcomed us and told us a little bit more of her, I knew it could not be so bad.
One thing I did learn today was everybody’s name. I was shocked myself I was able to do so. I have taken classes before where I walk out of there not knowing their names at all. The Name Game was rather interesting and fun for me and helped me learn everyone’s name in one class session. This game was really an ice breaker for me and for the rest of the class I think. Everyone, including myself got a chance to see everyone’s faces and learn their name. I thought that was really unique of the teacher to do such and activity like that. Not too many instructors take the time to do so and what really ends up happening is that we all get a little nervous to approach our classmates.
The game was very fun and was a great learning experience that I hope to incorporate in my classroom. Although I would have to keep in mind to not only for students to choose their own nickname yet to be respectful of other’s names as well. I was really glad that we got to do this because now I am sure the semester is going to go really well and I finally got to get to know more of my peers that I may one day work with.
