My role model, my motivation, my strength
Exploring the importance of role model in learning
Why is it important for students to have role models
I think it is important that we as educators guide our students to pick out the positive role models in their lives. Just as the Dean Brogdon shared, some of our students will come out of problematic homes where there are alcohol issues and other problems that the child will bring with him or her to school. It is vital that these students learn how to look for good role models.
In the Discussion Board for this class we have talked a lot about the importance of having good support from home as a strong motivator for students. For the students whose parents may not be good role models, we as educators can share inspirational stories to our students so they can have more confidence in themselves. In many cases, we can be our students’ role models. Then, once the students have a role model in mind, we can help them set goals on how they can improve themselves to the best of their ability. (Eldon Clark)
“ To be a teacher you must be a prophet because you are trying to prepare people for a world 30 to 40 years in into the future” (Gordon Brown). I absolutely love and live by this quote, I believe that all students can and want to learn because it is human nature to want to discover new and exciting things.
I want to be a good role model for my students and teach them never to give up in life. I want to guide them in the right path to and help them accomplish their goals in my classroom as well as for their future goals. I want to help develop their self esteem and help them become responsible and reliable people. I want to prep them for the real world and want to make grate people out of them. “ Plants are shaped by cultivation and men by education… we are born weak, we need strength; we are born totally un-provided, we need aid, we are born stupid, we need judgement. Everything we do not have at birth, it is given to us by education I want to be that educator who gives these gifts to my students so they can grow up with a good quality and firm foundation. I will lead by example and I will l teach my student to never take the easy way out and will embed in them winning attitudes, so they can successful in their short term goals as well as in their long term goals. (Alli)
I think I can be a good role model by leading by example. If I show my students that I want to be their teacher and that I believe in them then I think I will gain their trust. I want my student to learn to be strong and to overcome all obstacles that come to them. No matter what problem they have everything has a solution they just need to be patient. I want my students to be able to come to me and trust that I will help them to the best of my ability to make them successful. I want to change someone’s life. Children are the future of this world and I want to be able to say that I had a part in making that happen. I want to be the type of teacher that students come back looking at their 10 yr reunion. Being a role model for some of my students would probably be the height of my teaching career. Knowing that I have made a difference in someone’s life would make all the long hours and lesson planning worth it. (Nina)
