Thank you, good bye...from EDCI 4322 class

Thank You, Good Bye, Good Luck...
EDCI 4322 Human Development & Instruction
School of Education
University of Texas at Brownsville
Summer 2008

This has been one of the best class experiences in all my courses taken at the collegiate level. I will definitely recommend this course to other educators and those who wish to broaden their perspective. I found that every class was stimulating. There were never any classes that I felt boredom or disinterest.

Dr. Boyanton, you are the true definition of what it is to be an educator. I am privileged to have had the opportunity to learn so much from you. I will always do my best as an educator in the future to inspire my students the way you have inspired me and I am sure many others. This class has given me greater focus and direction when it comes to my own development as a person as a whole. There is nothing that I will not be able to become prepared for if I do not possess the knowledge already, I will not hesitate to go out and obtain it. I did not procrastinate in doing this assignment...( Jerome Jones, June 30, 2008)

I think that a teacher is the one who makes the difference in the student’s success, and in this class, I proved my way of thinking. When a teacher cares, is motivated and has passion for what he/she does, then is when students really become successful not only in the classroom, but also a life-changing experience, and that is what this class has done to me.

The way we learned about how to teach, listen and understand students, we practiced it in class. Today, the last day of class, I noticed that I went through four years of high school with Belinda and we were in ROTC together, I did remembered her, but in this one month that we were together in Dr. Dengting’s class, I learned more about Belinda then in those four years of high school. Thank you Dr. Dengting, because you are one of those teachers who marks a student's life in a positive way and what I have learned in our class will help me not only as a future teacher but also to be a more productive person in our society. (Brenda Ramirez, June 30, 2008)

I can’t believe that this class is over already. I can actually say that this is the first class that I did not want to see end so soon. I enjoyed this class more than I have ever enjoyed any other classes. Since I got to know everybody in the class, I kind of felt like we were all family. I am going to miss everybody especially you Dr. Dengting. You are such an awesome teacher. I have never met a professor who cares so much about her students.

Another thing that I was really impressed with was that you were able to read and grade every single assignment that we turned in. I was impressed because it was so much! What I liked is that you put a comment for everything that we turned in, and that is what showed us that you were really reading our assignments. When I have had to turn in a lot of writing assignments for other classes, I know that the teachers do not even read most of our papers, so it feels that I am doing it for nothing. For this class I felt that I tried even harder because I knew you were going to read everything. You are the best professor I’ve ever had, and I do not think that I am ever going to have another professor like you. Thank you for everything and Good Luck! (Monique Solis)

Honestly, I am glad I had the privilege to take this course with Dr. Boyanton because not only did I learn new ideas for my classroom, but I learned a lot about myself. I do admit I was really nervous in the beginning but I’m glad I stayed. I learned a lot of things about myself that can really improve the relationship with my students and with my own personal life. This class really changed me to a better person. I will never forget this wonderful learning experience.

Thank You, Dr. Boyanton for believing in each one of us. I will always look back at this as an incredible learning experience for me as an educator and as a parent. Thank you for all your words and heart, Dr. Boyanton. I really do wish there were a lot more teachers like you who give their heart into teaching. I will reflect back to this class because you really impacted us. Thank you once again Dr. Boyanton!!! (Margarita Trevino, June 30, 2008)

Well, the last day of class has finally arrived, and I thought I would be glad that summer one is finally over, but I am actually a little sad that this class is over. I really enjoyed this class, it was one of the best I have ever had, and I can say that I actually learned!!

I loved this class because I acquired a lot of knowledge that I know will be very helpful for my future teaching.

One recommendation that I would give to the people who are considering take this course is to not drop it, although at the beginning it seems like you will do a lot of work and you will not be able to handle it, in the end it is very rewarding, is a great class from which you will learn a lot.

To Dr. Boyanton, I would like to thank her for all her attention and her hard work. She is a great teacher and I loved her class. I will miss it along with all my classmates. Thank you Dr. Boyanton and the best of luck! :) (Kesia Martinez, June 30, 2008)

Today was the last day for this class. I thought I would have been happy yet it kind of saddens me because we have all grown a bond. Dr. Boyanton has an incredible unique way to bring out the best of us.

This class has taught me so many things I never thought I could have learned in one semester, especially summer sessions. I will incorporate all the different strategies we learned.

Thank you for this wonderful learning experience Dr. Boyanton. (Margarita Trevino)

My learning experiences in this course were excellent, excited, and helpful. I was very motivated to learn. I enjoyed every class day; Dr. Boyanton is a wonderful educator that promotes motivation and desire to learn something new everyday. I liked all the interactions that occurred in every class day, and everybody was motivated to learn. This class was more than I expected, I learned several things that I would apply with my future students.

Even though I did not had the pleasure to attend the CESTL presentation on Friday, I got the chance to see everybody’s presentation through blackboard, and it was an excellent experience to have the chance to know how our classmates got raised as they were growing up. Thank you Dr. Boyanton for you energy to teach this class, it was an excellent course we all got the chance to learn from each other. The journals were very helpful it helped us in reflect a lot. (Diamantina Chavez, June 30, 2008)

Today we said good bye to an incredible semester. I honestly enjoyed this class more than I thought I would at the beginning of the summer. I learned so much, not only from lecture and the professor, but I also learned about myself. Doing the CESTL conference allowed me to open up with more confidence in front of the public.

Today Belinda, Yvonne and Diamantina did their research presentations and did a great job I am glad Yvonne was able to speak and present in front of us because I do know she is very shy.

I thank Dr. Boyanton for being so good to us and caring so much about us as her students, I appreciate and respect professors like her. I thank her for bringing the best out of us and for showing us what we are capable of. Last, I want to thank Nancy and Anabel for being so kind and bringing donuts and cup cakes to class.
Thanks for a great summer! (Erika De La Garza, June 30, 2008)

Today was a sad day. It was the last day of class. I will truly miss Dr. Boyanton and my classmates. Even as it was our last day of class, we still learned about our classmate’s progress with the Self management project. A few of my classmates were able to reach their goal. The other part of my classmates will continue to reach their goals, while others will continue on with their great progress.

I found out that I am really connected with my classmates as well as with Dr. Dengting. This course really allowed me to grow as a person. I was able to learn a lot about myself. I also learned a lot about my fellow classmates. I learned that, though most of us just met, we were all able to relate to each other in one way or another. Thank you very much, Dr. Dengting, for being so motivating, understanding, encouraging, fun, sweet and wonderful. I will always hold you close to my heart and thoughts. I really enjoyed your class.

Thank you Dr. Dengting for giving us this great opportunity and for all that you have thought us. You are a wonderful professor, the university needs more professor like you.(Annabel Esparza, June 30, 2008)

Your class has been one of the best classes I have ever taken. I learned a lot about others and most importantly it helped me learned a lot about myself. Thank you for your dedication and for everything you taught us in this summer session. Time went so fast, and I will never forget how interesting and fun at the same time your class was! (Karina Vela)

Thank you very much Dr. Boyanton , I really enjoyed and learned a lot from you. You have really motivated me and I’m pretty sure to the rest of my classmates as well. (Nidia Lopez)

I have had a wonderful summer in this course. I can honestly say that I have known most of my classmates in a deeper perspective and hopefully made new friends. I hope all of my classmates and Dr.Boyanton as well have every dream fulfilled and that they can achieve them with positive outcomes. Thank you all for a wonderful class! (Cristina A. Garcia)

You have helped to prepared us—your students, for what challenges we may face as educators. It starts with us from the first day to the last as future educators and it is transferred and carried on by the students in which we influence each day. Hopefully we can instill and inspire them as we have been. I really enjoyed the experience of learning from and about all of you. I will never forget this class.
Take Care and God Bless You All.

Thank you again Dr. Boyanton!
