What we learned about in class today intrigued me. I can see where Erikson's stages comes from, and I do see some truth in them, but I do not know if they are something that we should strictly follow. I am a firm believer of the fact that, yes there are stages of life, but each individual goes through them differently. Some children may not follow Erikson's stages exactly but that does not necessarily mean that they are not appropriately developing.

I also feel the same way about Piaget's theory. I do agree with certain aspects of it however I do not feel comfortable saying that it is the answer to how children develop. A mixture of both Erikson's views and Piaget's views is what I feel is more effective.

I thought it was so interesting how people deal with old age and death. I feel that it is absolutely true that if you live a life that is full of positive relationships and if you help others as much as possible, you can truly say you have lived a fulfilled life. I think that is an important lesson to teach our children. Teachers can do this by showing children how important it is to be an active member of their community. Try to get them involved in community service and teach them how to help others.
