Last night’s class was fun and interesting, although at times a little nerve wrecking. We learned about the behaviorist, cognitive, and humanistic approaches to teaching in the beginning and then we were asked to think about which one we liked best and talk to a partner about it. All of the approaches are interesting and I think I liked the cognitive and humanistic the most. I would like to think that both approaches can be applied with some give and take. I think it is always reassuring to be very open and kind to students so that they aren’t scared or overwhelmed at first, taking the humanistic approach.

The part of class which was fun was when we got to get into groups and develop a mini lesson derived from one of the approaches. At first my group didn’t know we were going up in front of the class to act it out so we kind of got a bit nervous. We were left with a few minutes to come up with a lesson and when we got up there it turned out ok, but we were pretty nervous. Every group had something great to say and some of the groups were pretty funny as well. What I like about coming to this class is knowing that it is going to be interesting and fun regardless because most of the time we are doing something interactive. This also makes the time fly by which is also another good thing because lots of times I find myself looking at my watch very 10 minutes in other classes!
