My role model is my mother. She is 54 years old and has gone through a lot throughout her life. Her childhood was extremely difficult and yet she always has a positive outlook. She has always told me that it is important to take the positive out of every situation. Even if it is a bad situation. Just by saying " Wow, I am so thankful that the sun is shining today," you bring positive energy to yourself. She has always taught me that even in horribly bad situations, you can and should learn something from them. Force yourself to take the positives. The reason that this all means so much to me is because it would have been so easy for my mom to travel into adulthood miserably and depressed, but she did not. She was and is still so strong and I truly envy her for who she is today.

One of my goals in life is to carry her positive energy with me in every situation that I encounter. She has also ALWAYS encouraged me to be independent and told me never to depend on anyone else to make you happy. She has taught me that I need to make myself happy and always be true to myself. I learn from her everyday, and this will continue regardless of whether she is present or not.
