Thursday’s class was very interesting I really liked the gender box activity. This helped me see that during middle and high school students go through many physical and emotional changes. During this period students start to value friends more and school less. This is important for teachers to know because we need to do extra work in order to keep students interested in our subject.
Also, this activity helped me understand that teachers need to be involved in their students’ life in order to give them good advice. In today’s class I learned that often students feel that they are misunderstood and they value when they can to talk to someone. Furthermore, teachers have to set boundaries and let students know that we are the teachers in order to reach a respectful relationship. Adolescent is a tough period to go through and as teachers we need to be understanding of our students positions.
My self management project is going very well I feel that I am making progress and that I am able to manage my time better. I have already seen an improvement in my grades and it makes me very excited. Finally, I am really looking forward another exciting class.
