Understanding students with learning disabilities

Today’s class was very exciting. I was surprised to learn how hard is to deal with students that have mental disabilities. The video was very interesting and I learned a lot. In fact, I never realized how hard is for students with disabilities to understand a simple question. I think that the most challenging part of our careers as teachers is to correctly deal with students that have mental disabilities.
Another part of the video that I thought that was very interesting is that teachers are not really prepared to deal with students who have this type of disabilities. I think that teachers need to be better train to deal with this type of students in order to correctly help them. I think that this movie had a positive impact on me and after watching it I feel that I am better prepared to deal with students that have disabilities.
I believe that that as future teachers is our responsibility to research and investigate ways to help our students with special needs. Also, I think that we need to teach our regular students in our classroom that they should not make fun of the students with disabilities because it can really lower the student’ self esteem. Finally, I feel that today’s class will help me become a better teacher.
