Today I was excited to go to class. The activity we did was unexpected and surprising. It was also a ton of fun and I am really glad we did it. Not only was it fun, but the whole class learned a lot about team work and constructivism. I learned that good team work has a lot to do with who you are partnered with. If someone in the group is being counter-productive, no one will learn anything and the project will not be completed properly. Teachers need to pay attention to who is working together and who would be better off in a different group. It was interesting to see that all three groups in our class completed building a ramp in a different way.
I was really happy with the group I was in. We were all able to voice our different ideas without arguing and then combined them all to make our final product. I think knowing about constructivism will definitely help me become a better teacher with great lesson plans. I want my lessons to be able to appeal to everyone. I will not just stand in front of a class and lecture. I want the students to be able to think critically individually and also learn to work together in groups, taking everyone's opinions into consideration and come to conclusions about the topic. In my opinion a good lesson is one that is fun, interesting, and valuable to the student's life and learning.
