Learning is not something that is set in stone. It is all based on the individual that is learning. The approach and teaching style of the teacher is also an important element in the learning process. Some people are more accustomed to direct instruction. Lectures were very popular in the past and were the standard method of teaching. Like it or not, students had to acclimatize to such a teaching style.

In recent years teaching has changed gears and is more centered towards student needs and differences in learning. Teachers are encouraged to differentiate their instruction in order to accommodate all students and their individual needs. Some learn through lectures, others through group work, and others through visual and tactile aids. Everything is based on the individual these days.

When thinking of interpretation it is easy to think of it in terms of art. When looking at a painting one person sees one thing, someone else sees something else, and hundreds of others see their own vision. The same logic can be applied to interpreting information. Every person receives and processes information based on their own way of thinking.

Many of variables can come into play when interpreting information. Some of these are culture, race, family, social class, religion, politics, and many more. These variables can have a strong or minimal impact on interpretation, but the truth is that they do have an influence. Therefore, both learning and interpretation are completely based on the individual that is learning and interpreting and are both affected by his/her past experiences and upbringing.
