While being on the topic of motivation I have noticed something about myself. I am motivated by almost everything! Over the past 2 weeks I have fallen sick with three different illnesses and I have not missed one day of class. Though I am proud of myself in a way, I do wonder why I torture myself. I definitely should have stayed home on Thursday.

But from the class, I found out why I decided to go to school. According to trait perspective, I went to school because of Affiliation, approval, and achievement. I want to make my family happy because I love them and want them to love and respect me in return. I want the teachers so accept and recognize me. I do not want them to have a negative judgement of me. I want to get good grades because they make me happy. These grades are an achievement and allow me to get scholarships that makes me feel good about myself.

This leads to the cognitive perspective. I am mastery oriented because I always want to be the best in everything I do. I am interested in most of my classes and am curious about what we will learn next. I also go to school because it is my responsibility. I find that if I do stay home from school, even if I am sick, I tend to feel really guilty. So I avoid this by going to school. I am very self motivated to make my family proud and to help others. Hopefully I will motivate my students some day and make them happy too.
