I really enjoyed today’s class because of the Panel Discussion. I was one of the people on the panel and by answering questions for the class, I really feel like I helped. I work with triplet boys around age 11 and it gets difficult for me at times when they do not want to do their homework and they feel unmotivated. It really helped by listening to other people on the panel’s education history. Now when I go to help them with their homework in the future, I will be able to get them motivated and care about the effort they put into their work.
One thing that I am fearful for when I become a teacher is being able to control my class and being able to handle children who act out. It is hard for me when I babysit the triplets every day because one of them has behavior issues. He acts out when he has too much homework to do and it troubles me that I will not be able to handle my class full of students. By attending today’s class, I learned more strategies to handle misbehavior and to treat each child as an individual. I look forward to the next class because I enjoy learning about how to become a better teacher.
