Upon entering this class I assumed as like most classes, for this to be just like any other lecture class. I did not expect such interaction and energy in the classroom. Playing “The Name Game” definitely lightened the mood, broke the ice, and allowed for our class to come together from the start. Usually, it is not until the end of the semester, if even at all, where the class gains that unity and comfortable communication with one another.

The purpose and directive of the lesson definitely served for a multitude of values. Besides gaining comfort and getting to know classmates, it also related to some important topics for teaching and learning. With this in mind, it’s reassuring that we have a professor that is so effective in teaching the class, is organized enough to arrange for creative lesson plans, and is passionate about the class.

However, there was also some anxiety brought upon by this class. Going over the syllabus after class, and seeing the detail in the work to come seems like so much at first. I am nervous about keeping up with all the work, but I think I’m ready for it. I do appreciate that the professor has provided all the work up front and also examples for some of the assignments; this helps with understanding what is expected of me. I’ve organized myself and prepared myself the best I can and I’m ready to see what surprises the following classes bring.
