I really enjoyed the class and the cultural interaction we shared. Last week's class was an expression of the different cultures and ethnicities that are present in our society and our own class. It was really fun and interesting to hear and see the different cultures that everyone brought to class. There were the Irish, Italian, Jewish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and American cultures that were present. Some people brought in food to share, which is always a great thing during an evening class! However, I was probably most intrigued with the information and culture shared by the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean students. It is a pleasure to have a diverse classroom and learn the similarities and differences in culture and society when you have students from different countries present in the class. I learned a lot about the Chinese culture and perspective from the young generation. I think that Yu did a great job of explaining the culture of Japan and I learned how Japanese people really feel a sense of modesty and beauty about their country. It was something I didn't know about Japan and was interesting to hear it from a person that was raised from that country. I also found it extremely interesting that China, Korea, and Japan do not have a drinking age law!! Being from the United States, this is such a mile stone in a young person's life and I cannot imagine what would happen if America didn't have a drinking age? I believe chaos would develop and a drastic decline in society's development! That was so cool to talk about. Overall, the class was interesting and I learned quite a bit from the foreign students about their countries and cultures.
