I really enjoyed the movie October Sky and it was very motivating. I love movies like that because I always walk away from it thinking I can do this or that. Homer was a typical seventeen year old student. Uninterested and wanting something more--something he loved--to take advantage of. When he saw the Russian's launching a satellite into space he was inspired. Inspiration can do a lot for an individuals motivation.
I don't think I'm very easily inspired unfortunately but that doesn't mean I'm not just as motivated as Homer was when he was building his rocket. I look at myself as a highly motivated individual who understands where my priorities lie and take care of all my responsibilities. Homer's motivation came from his curiosity in space, rockets and science. My motivation is my husband, my daughter and my own happiness. Those three things are enough inspiration that I'd ever need in order to motivate myself to do anything, and I feel like I accomplish a lot on a day to day basis. I work full time and go to school this semester part time--this is actually the first semester that I'm only enrolled part time. Each time I work a 6 day work week on a thirteen hour shift I just think about my family and that I'm working hard for a purpose and that motivates m to keep going.
Resulting from his motivation Homer became alienated from his father but that did not stand in his way of accomplishing what he wanted in his heart. When it comes to the negative aspects resulting from the things I do that motivate me are feeling run down and feeling badly that I can't spend as much free time (non-work) with my daughter playing and interacting with her. People often ask me how I do it all...I don't really know actually--I just do it. I don't really think about it because I'm doing it for all the right reasons. As with Homer he knew he could make a difference while trying for a chance to win a scholarship. With me I know that all my hard work and dedication will pay off in the end and I will look back on this time of my life and be proud.
