The movie that we watched today in class was very enlightening.  I thought that it was a very powerful movie that clearly conveyed the main points.  The main point was that students with learning disabilities have a much harder time being successful in schools and other educational environments.  The movie was made to educate people, especially teachers, on what a learning disabled child goes through.  The instructor provided exercises to show the people how a learning disabled child feels when called on in the classroom.  The seminar was meant to give teachers, parents, and other people who work with children different tactics to help a learning disabled child learn.

I found the movie very interesting and educating.  I knew some things about a learning disabled child and what tactics a teacher could use to help them learn.  However, I learned a lot watching the video. I did not know that learning disabled people had difficulties with perception.  The photograph was a great example of perception. I had no idea that was a cow face until the instructor put the outline over the picture.  I also did not know that some learning disabled people are only auditory learners.  I could never imagine not understanding what I was reading, and only understanding it when someone tells it to me.

I knew that having a learning disability must make everyday life very difficult, but the video reinforced that point. I think it was a great seminar to have and I believe that all teachers to have to go to one, or at least watch the video.  In today’s society I don’t think that non-special education teachers are taught enough about learning disabled students.
