To be honest, I want to say: Dr. Boyanton, you are the one I want to be. I love the way you teach us. I always learn in a very comfortable atmosphere. In my opinion, a teacher should make her/his class active, motive, interesting and enjoyable. And you are always doing well.
I love the warm-up game at the beginning and the Role Model Story Sharing at the end of this class. After I heard that I should appreciate someone face to face, I felt a little bit embarrassed. In our culture, we hardly praise a person face to face. But I decided to try, and I did it. Surprisingly, I was also praised by others, they said that I have a beautiful smile, I was so happy and I still feel happy now. So I decided to continue to smile to people. When I finished my appreciating, I suddenly found that everyone has their merits which are worthy of praising and being learnt from. And also, everyone can be the model.
My symbolic model is Iris Chang who is also one of the reasons I came here; my live model is my father. I was surprised that more than half of my classmates chose their families (mother or father, husband, grandmother or grandfather) as their life models. Especially a girl’s brother who just has one hand, but he performs like a normal person, he even does better than us. Some others’ stories were full of sadness: Yu’s mother passed away four years ago; three to four classmates’ parents divorced when they were young. But they still stand there strongly. Well, I was completely shocked after I heard about their story, because I thought that my life was so hard that I didn't know how to go through it and, others’ lives are more or less better than mine; I complained about it very often. But their stories really inspired me. I will never complain about my family ever.
The Role Model Story Sharing partially reflected the advantages of Albert Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory which includes Role Model, Consequences, Self-efficacy, the Process and Self-reflection. In the future I’m sure I will follow it. I am able to be a good teacher’s which is our guide helping us to improve our instruction.
