I enjoyed today's class because it gave everyone a chance to be creative and honest. Breaking into small groups can be effective as I observed in this class. It's amazing how we all pretty much have the views on the answers to the questions we were given. All of our answers were tied together somehow and it definitely reminded me how it was to be an adolescent and although I had some of the best times of my life I also had some of the worst.
Many of the answers that were given are so true to adolescents and are the reasons they may have such turbulent teenage years. Lack of loyalty and talking behind friends backs are just a couple of the many reasons that adolescents have such a tough time getting through those years. At the time they dont realize that the qualities they possess during these years are mainly negative one's and it's those qualities that effect their lives in negative ways. When adolescents are depressed, angry or fighting with a friend it's usually these negative traits that aided them in reaching that point.
I never really noticed those reasons before this class. I've found that when your talking about certain factors that effect an individuals life they dont see what you see--however, after they have ended that phase of their life and look back on it they do see what you saw. When your living it your blind to it and others dont understand how you dont see things that seem painfully obvious and once you remove yourself from the situation you ask yourself how you never saw what the issue was.
That's how I felt in class--like when I was living it I didnt see how foolish I acted and the mindless things I did. Now looking back I cant understand how I did or said certain things and thought there would be no consequences or that I would keep friendships or romantic relationships healthy. But all these seemingly negative actions have shaped who we all have become today. Hopefully we have all grown into mature, intelligent adults who have taken adolescence for what it is--a learning experience that you will never forget and always look back to when remembering good times and bad. .
