Today we watched a video on the impacts of media and technology on adolescents. I thought this was a very interesting video because it demonstrated both the pros and the cons of technology on today’s youth. Personally, I believe that today’s technology is a positive factor in our educational systems. Technology provides so many opportunities for growth and development in which has become a very important factor in the 21st century. Technology is our future, and with the proper usage, the youth of today will be able to accomplish the unimaginable.
I believe that there has become such a discrepancy about the validity and safety of these new technologies because there has become such an enormous gap between generations and their knowledge of these new inventions. Throughout the past few years there has become such a booming advancement in technology in which has clearly separated generations. Those who are not technologically literate have difficulties grasping the concepts of facebook and google. For example, my parents are true non believers of current technology. They do not understand how to use these new devices, so they rather look upon them as an unnecessary evil than learn how to use them.
In my personal opinion, growing up with such ignorance was extremely frustrating and discouraging at times. Yes, I do understand that new technologies have opened the doors for new adventures but if we all choose to except the changes of the times, these new technologies will be essential for future growth.
