In EDI 17, we talked about adolescents having realistic and/or non-realistic goals. I felt that every student in the class had a different opinion about adolescents having dreams or goals. My personal opinion about adolescents having distinct goals and dreams is that it is very important to their life. I believe that no matter what the adolescents dream or goal is teachers, parents, and friends should all support them. I understand that some goals may seem non-realistic like becoming the next Derek Jeter. However, I feel that if an adolescent gives a realistic effort to reach their dreams and goals then their goals are realistic. We had a big debate in class about distinguishing between realistic and non-realistic goals. I was eager to give my opinion about this because I feel strongly about it.
I feel that teachers should support an adolescent’s dreams or goals because sometimes as a teacher you are the only one who does support them. When I become a teacher, I know that I will support any of my student’s dreams or goals because you never know what can happen. I am one-hundred percent sure that most of the sports, Olympic, and movie stars all have had people who have motivated them in their life. Some of them may have not have succeeded with out motivation from people they care about. In conclusion, I believe that teachers should support student’s passions, dreams, and goals because without motivation from teachers students will be lost.
