I really enjoyed our talk in the last class. It was nice to hear the entire class talk in an open and nonjudgmental way about adolescents and sex. It was also really great to hear the males in our class give their opinions because it really opens our eyes to how the other sex thinks about sex at different ages. I think being that we are all going to be teachers to adolescents, it is important for us to know what emotional and physical changes are going on in their lives. So often we only talk about the physical changes and puberty, but the reality is the deeper sexual feelings and desires and how these adolescents are trying to cope with those feelings. It was good that we all went back to that mindset of being younger and all gave each other our opinions and advice on how to handle the feelings adolescents have. We may not be able to directly say anything to them when we are teachers, but understanding what is going on in their lives is important because it affects their ability to learn and concentrate. And it is important not to be naïve about what is going on in their lives.
