In my opinion I think being supportive of student’s dreams and inspirations is the most important thing in life. When a child is supported with his or her goals it makes that child feel motivated and feel like they really can achieve whatever they put their mind to. In my past experience I always said I wanted to be a professional tennis player and growing up one of my private coaches use to belittle me and make me feel like I had no chance at making it as a pro. I wish I noticed his attitude earlier on, and I would have switched to a new coach, but not until I was old enough did I realize that was what I needed to do.
When I looked for my next coach I asked him did he think I could be a pro. And he responded by saying you can do anything you want, as long as you work hard enough. That is why I chose my new coach because he motivated and when someone believes in you it is just one step closer to getting to your goals. If someone does not believe in you, they will not push you hard enough and not care enough if they don’t believe you can achieve what you want.
Let’s get real how many people would do anything if they knew at the end they wouldn’t succeed? Not many, so that’s why people make goals, for either short term or long term goals. It’s of the most utter importance that people believe in other people’s goals and support people, because that’s what makes most goals happen. Even in the movie we are watching in class now, it shows how homers father does not support him and how it affects him. When his father tells him to quit he has no choice but to. He has not motivation when his father tells him he is good for nothing but mining and it’s a great job. Once his father tells him he can do his rockets he finally succeeds at what his goal was.
