Today’s class was very interesting in the beginning. As we finished going over the syllabus, I came to realize that this class is full of work. It was very overwhelming to learn all the amount of work we are going to be doing throughout this semester. There is a lot to understand, observe and put together. It is going to be a time consuming class which isn’t the problem because that is what we are here to do: to learn and be prepared for the future. I’m just a little frightened and feeling overwhelmed already that I’m going to be killing myself to pass this course but not only to pass but also to learn the information I’m going to need to know for my profession as a teacher.
I’m sure that with the help of my professor it won’t be so difficult to get through because she has great intentions with us. She wants us to learn and to do as well as possible. She is willing to support us and even work with us to accommodate whatever needs we have and whatever problems we need to fix and overcome. I really like that about her because many professors don’t care and have the students as another student and sometimes the information doesn’t get across the same way and we end up messing up.
I think the community of respect is a great thing. No matter what grade level I think it’s important and necessary for it. It is a way of establishing boundaries and setting ground rules to respect the class and each other. We all need to respect one another and be sensitive about other’s needs. As teachers, we need to demonstrate how to be courteous and sensitive to student’s needs and we need to teach them discipline in the classroom so that they learn responsibility with each other and themselves.
