On January 20, 2011 I walked into a world of the unknown. It was the first day of a long awaited journey towards my Masters Degree in Childhood Education and Special Education. There were so many emotions running through my body that day. I never thought that one person could experience so many different emotions all at the same time. I felt excitement, hesitation, curiosity and fear. I was excited that my journey was beginning. I was hesitant since this was an unusual environment. I was curious to see what I was going to be learning. My biggest emotion was fear, because I only want to succeed. Although knowing that stepping out into the world of the unknown would put fear in the strongest and bravest person, it did not calm my fears.
I learned so much on my first day that it is a struggle to put the focus on just one learned element of today’s class. Since I have to choose, I will say participation was the most important aspect of the class. It was great for once to see that a teacher can relate to their students. As a student we all know that the professor sets the pace and tone for the class. Professor Boyanton sat with the class while getting to know everyone’s name. A name game was played and a group assignment was completed. We had to speak about the significances of associations with names and ways to make each task manageable. I learned that if tasks are made manageable they would be highly successful and easier to complete.
