Joy of learning, motivation to learn

I know I felt overwhelmed in the very beginning of the semester when we went over the syllabus in class and discussed what was expected of us. However, I am becoming much more comfortable with these journals and the logs. Also, I feel the research project and observation hours are broken up nicely to allow appropriate time for the work. I also really enjoy going to class. Unfortunately, this semester I have a few classes that I’m not excited about going to, I feel they drone on and they’re boring. On the other hand, I am delighted to say that for this class I feel the complete opposite. I feel this class moves very fast and I enjoy all the discussions. In addition, I feel comfortable with my peers in this class so I’m not hesitant if I want to speak up in the discussions.

The last class in particular I found very upbeat and interesting. I appreciated everyone questioning the panel and I feel it was beneficial to hear other people’s experiences in working with adolescents. One specific idea that really interested me was how Dr. Boyanton’s described the differences between adolescents in China versus adolescents here in America. I’ve always heard of the differences from other classes, but these were teachers or professors who just knew the information, they didn’t share any of their own experiences. I think it’s important to learn from one another, and I feel that sometimes the best way to learn is by listening to stories of what other people have gone through.
