My dream, my goal, my passion

I would say my two greatest passions in life are teaching and Italy. Teaching has been a passion of mine since I was a child. I remember growing up I would always want to play “school” with my friends and I always took it very seriously. I was always the teacher and my friends were the students; I assigned homework and all. As I see it, teaching is a way for me to give back. It is a way for me to share my second passion of Italy and the language with my students and allow them to live outside their bubble for a brief time. I also have many stories, pictures, videos and etc. that I cannot wait to share with my students. Being a teacher is not a job for me, it is not something I will wake up in the morning and dread going to, rather a place for me to share my knowledge and affect the lives of many students.

Italy and the Italian language is also one of my greatest passions in life. My parents were both born in Italy and immigrated here about 35 years ago. Since I was born my mom always took me and my siblings to Italy every summer for at least three months. Going to Europe in the summer was my form of summer camp. Every year I would look forward to the last day of school because I knew that this meant we would be boarding a plane shortly. I visited family and friends in Italy and also traveled throughout with my family. I have always loved the language, was extremely fascinated with the culture and life style, and intrigued by the history and art.

Tying both of my passions together and becoming a secondary education Italian teacher has been a goal of mine for years. I plan on pursuing school after my masters and hoping to receive my PhD so that I can one day teach at the university level.
