Today’s class has been the most interesting one so far in my opinion. We shared all of our role model stories and it was a very touching moment. Some of us broke down, like me for instance, a lot, but I had many reasons to. I was very happy to have brought my mother, even though I was the only one but it was a very nice feeling and moment for the both of us. I really liked how my mom interacted with everyone in the class, that made her and me feel very special. She liked everyone in the class and said they were all very polite and sophisticated students. I said to her, “Yes, I have a very good group”. She also loved my professor, she thought she was a very gentile person and very well put together.
I believe it is important for adolescents to have a role model, regardless of who it is, because they need someone to look up to and I think parents are the ideal people to play that role. Sometimes, parents do not do their job as parents for example, sometimes they do not know how to be involved in their child’s life, or they do not know how to advise them, or they are not there to support them but parents who know how to be in their child’s life the way they are supposed to, provide a good example for their children and therefore they become role models.
My mom is my role model because since my father died and since I had been diagnosed with leukemia, she has sacrificed so much in her life for me. She works for me, to keep me alive, maintain me, to keep me strong, make sure I’m doing well; I have a good education and so much more. It is only her and I so we both take care of each other. I probably don’t show her or tell her much that I appreciate it her with all my heart but I sincerely do. She is the most amazing person can anyone can meet. She has a huge heart and will never say no. She is the kind of human being that will always be considerate no matter what, and will always try to help you somehow. She will never abandon you. She has never abandoned me; on the contrary she has always and still protects me and makes sure that I am safe. She gives me the guidance I need to survive and be successful.
Everything I do, all the hard work and sweat I go through, is to help myself to be successful and make her feel proud of me for what she sacrifices to make me successful. I admire my mom so much and like she said, I inspire her. I felt very touched and valued when she told me that because it was like an angelic comment. She made me feel like such a good person. Everything that she has done in her life is for me and now I am returning the favor.
