My role model is my grandfather Howard “Pop Pop” Treiber. He is no longer with us, he died about 10 years ago. He is my father’s father. He was by far the sweetest and most caring man I have ever met. He was extremely smart and I always had looked up to him and still do today. He had worked in our family business for most of his life with his brother. Then later on in life he was the president of our insurance company. I always think of him as an extremely hard worker and also a very generous man.
My Pop Pop had always been gentle and kind to all 18 of his grandchildren but he also was very involved with many charities. I never knew how important being apart of your community was until my grandfather told me that being apart of something for unselfish reasons was always important. He said even a small donation of time or money made a difference. I took into heart his generosity and made sure that I was apart of my community. Today, I am involved with one of his favorite charities, St. Christopher Ottilie. Today I volunteer at the Christmas and holiday parties. I also volunteer for the fashion show as well to raise money. I feel like my grandfather would very proud of me and I want to make sure that I always am apart of the community.
