My sister, my motivation, my role model

Today’s class was very emotional for everyone. I really enjoyed the story sharing of our role models and found it very interesting whom everyone picked as a role model. Most of the role models were immediate family, which I found fascinating because that means that my peers come from good families that are supportive and understanding which is very un-likely now a day.

One person that has had a great impact on my life is my sister, Teresa. She is 34 and a middle school Italian and Spanish teacher on Long Island. She is 11 years older than me but we are extremely close and share very similar likes and dislikes. Teresa is a very generous, caring, and helpful person. She is often very selfless and always willing to help someone. I have observed Teresa teaching and she provides her students with passion, a comfortable and safe learning environment, and an opportunity for success. Teresa has impacted my life because as a child and young adult she was always guiding me in the right direction. She is very strong willed and goal oriented. She helped me to decide most of the big decision I have made in life up until now. She is always there for me when I have a question about a lesson, doing my resume, or anything to do with school. We share many common interests and I love spending time with her, whether it is just having coffee and talking or traveling over the summer. We both have a great passion for Italy and the Italian culture so we enjoy doing a lot of our traveling and discovering together. Without my big sister, I don’t know if I would be the person I am today!
