Support is a must: Motivating adolescents to learn

Today’s class was a nice and relaxing class, and of course I still was able to take knowledge from the class. I have seen the movie October Sky before, but this time there was more meaning behind it because we are speaking about motivation. Homer is an extremely motivated person, but I noticed he is hindered by people in his town and especially his father. In a child’s life his/her parents are the main people to look up to, and for a father to be so against your dreams is heartbreaking. Luckily Homer does not allow his father to discourage him as he continues his dream.

In high school now-a-days students definitely should have a goal in mind that he/she wants to complete or reach. This allows the motivation to be even more meaningful and worth it. Everyone of course can have an opinion of course but as a parent, support is a must. A child needs to feel secure of the decision being made and a parent should support the decision as long as it is not harmful. As far as my self-management project goes, I feel I am improving. I wish I had taken an AP course in high school because my writing would have been more advanced, but I am in the learning process and I continuously improve. I am extremely motivated to continue and practice my writing styles. Currently I write in the intermediate-advanced level, but I would like to be in the fully advanced stage. Time will tell as I continue writing in each of my Spanish classes
